Non Scale Victories! Back in the Saddle Again

button

Good morning my dears! It's Thursday! Which means it's my FAVE DAY OF THE WEEK IN THE BLOGGING WORLD!! It's time for another fantastical edition of Non-Scale Victories! And boy have I got a good one today..

Piggy backing off of my post yesterday when I mentioned my mom telling me that I'm a crabby, cranky bitch unpleaseant when I am off my game with eating. I've made a correlation between good eating habits and my moods... Good eating=nice Sammie. Bad eating=psycho bitch from hell Sammie. Lesson learned? Yep. So... My victory this week?

I'VE STARTED LOGGING AGAIN!

Seriously... If you are a MFP junkie, you should so add me (dramallamaduck)! Woot! I have found that when I log my calorie intake, I tend to eat better. Maybe it's because I really don't want to know how many calories are in my Sonic Toaster sammich.

What are your victories this week? I can't wait to read all of them!!

Non Scale Victories!

button

"The scale can't measure your will, your drive, how much time you put into your food plan, or how many temptations you said no to. It can't tell how many old habits you broke or new, healthier habits you started. It doesn't know the effort you put in at the gym, and it doesn't care. It won't heap praise on you because you chose the stairs over the elevator or know that you passed on a slice of a colleague's birthday cake even though you wanted it with all your heart."

- Kim Bensen

I had to steal the above quote from the beautiful lady Katie, simply because it completely reflects my exact seniments with the journey that I'm on. The scale does not define you. Your beauty, your health, your worth is not determined by the number on the scale.

So what is my victory today? I'm back to my healthy breakfast ways! I got ran over by fell off the wagon when it comes to healthy breakfast during my trip to Galveston a couple weeks ago. I've been ok with lunch and struggling with portion control at dinner, but breakfast went flying out the window. I am proud to say that I've only eaten Chick Fil A once this week and every other day I've had Greek Yogurt and something else (fruit, protien bar, etc...).

I've also started cutting back on my soda intake. You and I both know that Coke Zero is crack soda to me.. Almost as back as the Caramel Delights being crack cookies... Damn you adorbable Girl Scouts and your crack cookies. Normally in the morning I'll get myself a giant Coke Zero where ever mom stops for breakfast.. Guess what's in my cup today? Diet Green Tea. Thank you Sonic!

I will admit that I tried to weigh myself on Monday morning, just to see what would happen... Wellllll... One of my dogs barfed on my scale a couple days before... It sounds icky, but it's true.. I didn't realize the extent of the damage. Needless to say, my scale is now having epileptic seizures. Awesome. Oh well!

Until next time my friends :)

This Whole Healthy Eating Thing....

SUCKS! Seriously..

I decided to be a good girl and have the Chick Fil A fruit bowl for breakfast this morning. Sounds good, right? NOT! Holy moly... I ate breakfast around 7:30 and I'M BLOODY STARVING! Like I have a headache, my stomach hurts hungry. This can't be right.. Or am I that much of a lard ass?

I'm thinking a trip to the grocery store is in order... That way I can get snacky stuff and healthy breakfast stuff. Breakfast has become a difficult part of my day, thanks to a bombshell dropped on me this morning.. Apparently my barely over minimum wage job makes me qualified to buy my own breakfast at these expensive lovely fast food places that we eat at every morning. Yes, because I have an extra $25 a week to spend on greasy ass calorie filled breakfast fare (however I may have to set aside $10 a week for my giant sized Coke Zero habit).

Maybe we should eat breakfast at home I says, no time they says. Bleh. It's time for me to actually roll my ass out of bed at 6am (instead of snoozing my alarm) and make food that's not icky. And maybe will keep me full. And maybe it's time for a store trip for snacks that I can take to work? All I know is that if I have many more days like this, the desk I'm sitting at will not be safe from being eating...

In-san-it-y

With all the insanity that work has been this week, I just realized that I missed my normal Thursday link up. Oops.

Let's see.. I made a trip to Arlington this week. Good times. Work sent me to a workshop ON THE FIRST FREAKIN DAY OF SCHOOL. It was a great workshop and I learned a lot, but it put me way behind. That and work is just not good. It's actually downright awful. I won't put details down (to protect the innocent and the assholes), but it's not good. While in Arlington, I got to see my lovely best friend Brittany. We were roomies in college and have managed to stay in touch.

I have been managing to eat much healthier, and have recently discovered a love of grapefruit. It's really good! So that's usually my breakfast. Yum. I splurged last night on Applebees. It was amazing. I love the queso.. and the chicken strips.. and the booze tea. There are so many better things for me, but I didn't care.

That is the problem. If I have a bad day week, I turn to food for comfort. Fried food, sweet food, salty food.. Any food. This sounds a bit disturbing as I type it.. It doesn't sounds like I have a very healthy relationship with food..

Fangirling and Amazing Food

I made the best dinner ever.. Seriously..

I have a thing for chicken nuggets, but the ones from Mickey D's have started to scare me a little. With the whole pink slime thing, it really makes me wonder exactly what is in my nuggets. That and the grease is horrid. Keeping all of this in mind, I found a recipe for baked chicken nuggets... I had to try them, and they were totally worth it! Tender, juicy, flavorful, and perfect for dipping, snacking, or putting on a salad for dinner.

I found the recipe on Pinterest, and it led me here. I altered the recipe a bit, mostly because I don't keep Panko in the house. They were AWESOME!! For a side I made squash and peppers (recipe will come soon).

As for the mention of fangirling... I'm currently obsessed with a new series and a new actor. The series is called Dr. Who. Time Lords, Daleks, TARDIS, companions and Capt. Jack.. Who can go wrong? My actor is the ultra sexy David Tennant. You make recognize him as the actor that portrayed Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He is the 10th regeneration of the Doctor (the show has been going since 1969) and I'm obsessed. Yum yum doctor LOL

A friend of mine and I tend to think he would make an amazing Christian Grey from the Fifty Shades of Grey series

Embracing the veggies

I used a ton of veggies when I made lunch today. And what I made was really pretty healthy! I made the spicy southwest chicken (but i doubled the amount of tomato and jalepeƱo) from the recipe tab and served it over lettuce and cucumber to make a very tasty salad (the leftovers are going to work with me tomorrow). I also made sweet potato fries!! They were so good!! I'll include the recipe under the tab, but I'll share the picture here too. Don't they look divine!?

After the week I've had, it's been very hard for me to do anything but want to sleep. Hopefully tomorrow will get me back into my routine!
